The fullness of the fruit is on full display, but in a very relaxed and natural manner. The wine never feels like too much. The tannins are yielding and velvety, and this purebred Tuscan red wraps thickly over the palate. The blend sees a slightly higher percentage of Cabernet Franc and a slightly lower percentage of Sangiovese. The current mix is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Franc (which has been creeping up in recent years, especially as the climate changes). The soils at the Solaia vineyard are rich in Galestro rock, which is an especially happy pairing with Cabernet Franc in particular. Managing Director Renzo Cotarella tells me that that a vintage like 2019 is proof that the final character of a wine comes from its surrounding territory, not from the blend. This is a generous and extremely expressive edition with lots of dark fruit, spice and sweet tobacco. The tannins are beautifully velvety and soft. This is a beautiful wine that collectors will love.(The Wine Advocate, Jul 01, 2022) ¥¢¥ó¥Æ¥£¥Î¥ê °ìÍ÷¤Ø

The process was as careful as possible, without using any pumps, doing manual and optical sorting of the grapes, pressing in small vertical presses and aging of 20 months in French oak barrels, 73% of them new and the rest second use. The wine reached good ripeness with 14.9% alcohol. It still shows the effect of the élevage a bit, with abundant notes of sweet spices, a creamy touch and some smoke. I tasted it next to the 2019, and the wines have a very similar aromatic palette with a clear note of baked peppers. What was amazing in 2020 was that they harvested the Carmenere almost five weeks earlier than they normally would, and the result is not a green wine at all. As in all dry years, the wines show a little more tannic, a little in the style of the 2017 - but the 2020 has more tension than the 2017, and the 2017 was more powerful and with a bigger tannic structure. The 2019 had more volume than the 2018, and the 2020 is closer to the 2019 than the 2018. 200,000 bottles produced. The palate is full-bodied and fantastically concentrated with tightly wound layers of black and red berry notions, framed by very firm yet beautifully ripe tannins and amazing tension, finishing with epic length and loads of mineral sparks.(The Wine Advocate, Dec 01, 2020) ¥Æ¥¹¥í¥ó ¥¨¥¹¥Æ¡¼¥È °ìÍ÷¤Ø

The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Luce is packed tight with brightness and sunshine. Compared to the family's other Brunellos made under the Castelgiocondo brand, this wine is more opulent, more concentrated and more modern or contemporary overall. It is designed to appeal to an international audience for sure and most certainly delivers the goods if you are looking for roundness, ripe fruit and thick texture. I added an extra point to my score since the last time I tasted the 2019 Bolgheri Rosso Camarcanda in order to underline the great potential of this vintage. This wine could legally be a Bolgheri Superiore, but Angelo Gaja prefers not to use qualifying wine terms such as Superiore, Classico or Riserva in his various wine projects spanning from Piedmont to Tuscany to Etna. Semantics aside, this is a gorgeous wine - one of the best made at Ca' Marcanda for sure - with impressive intensity and balance. Dark fruit and blackberry are contrasted against spice, tobacco, grilled rosemary and Mediterranean bramble. The 2019 vintage saw favorable weather conditions and "just the right amount of rain," Gaja says.(The Wine Advocate, Jan 13, 2023)

Angelo Gaja usually blends fruit from 14 vineyard sites to make this wine. Starting with this vintage, he has opted to reduce that number to eight vineyards instead. The change is subtle, but you can taste it. At this young stage in the wine's life I was unsure of the results. This Barbaresco is more austere, thorny and nervous compared to the super supple and rich vintages of the immediate past. The nose shows dark fruit follow by cola, garden herb and white pepper. The mouthfeel is silky and firm and edgy.(The Wine Advocate, Jun 29, 2015)

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly grows on the nose, revealing compelling notes of baked black cherries, mulberries, black raspberries, warm cassis and blackberry pie with nuances of spice cake, yeast extract, tapenade, licorice and dusty soil with a waft of wild sage. The neck brochure suggests eight hours of breathing is necessary to give the wine every opportunity to impress. The light ruby color is among the least saturated of all the 1990 Brunellos. As the neck label suggests, the wine opens with airing, offering up a subtle aromatic profile of dried roses, saddle leather, and earthy notes. With a transparent, watery color, this austere, medium-bodied, tart, high-acid wine lacks fruit, extract and concentration. This is the most famous estate in Tuscany (perhaps Italy), and while this wine's high acidity and tannin will ensure 20 to 40 years of longevity, the wine will never provide much pleasure.(The Wine Advocate, Apr 26, 1996)

As I have said so many times over the last 15 years, the top Chapoutier wines are meant for very long term drinking, and are not designed for immediate gratification. Everything Chapoutier is doing, from his bio-dynamically farmed vineyard to tiny yields, extended fermentations, indigenous yeasts, and no fining or filtration, is done to produce the essence of a vineyard and a vintage. His track record since 1989 and 1990 admirably proves that these are indeed remarkable wines made by a young genius who refuses to compromise. Michel Chapoutier has been misunderstood by some of his peers, and there is a lot of jealousy when someone this young is so incredibly talented, but it is an irrefutable fact that these are wines of singular greatness as well as longevity.(The Wine Advocate, Dec 27, 2004)

All that oak and extract impedes access to the wine's generous fruit, rendering it less demonstrative and gourmand than its 2019 counterpart, and that's a pity, as recent vintages of Valandraud have been among the more successful of the few remaining hold-out "garagiste" wines of the Right Bank.(The Wine Advocate, Apr 07, 2023) ¥È¥Ã¥×¥ï¥¤¥ó¤ËÈ渪¤¹¤ëɾ²Á ¥·¥ã¥È¡¼ ¥ô¥¡¥é¥ó¥É¥í¡¼ Chateau Valandraud ¥·¥ã¥È¡¼¡¦¥ô¥¡¥é¥ó¥É¥í¡¼¤Ï1989ǯ¡¢¥¸¥ã¥ó¡¦¥ê¥å¥Ã¥¯¡¦¥Æ¥å¥Ì¥ô¥¡¥óÉ׺ʤˤè¤ê¡¢¥µ¥ó¡¦¥Æ¥ß¥ê¥ª¥ó¤Îë¤ËÀßΩ¤µ¤ì¤Þ¤·¤¿¡£ ¤ï¤º¤«0.6ha¤ÎȪ¤«¤é¥¹¥¿¡¼¥È¤·¸½ºß¤Ï8.88ha¤Þ¤Ç¹¤²¤é¤ì¤Æ¤¤¤Þ¤¹¡£ ¥Æ¥å¥Ì¥ô¥¡¥ó»á¤Ï¥ï¥¤¥ó¥Ó¥¸¥Í¥¹¤Ë¤ª¤±¤ë·Ð¸³¤Ï¤¢¤Ã¤¿¤â¤Î¤Î¥ï¥¤¥ó¤¤ê¤ÏÁǿͤǤ¢¤Ã¤¿¤¿¤á¡¢ ¥·¥ã¥È¡¼¡¦¥ª¡¼¥¾¥ó¥Ì¤Î¥¢¥é¥ó¡¦¥Ü¡¼¥Æ¥£¥¨»á¤ä¥¸¥ë¡¦¥Ñ¥±»á¤Î½õÎÏ¡¢¥ß¥·¥§¥ë¡¦¥í¥é¥ó»á¤Î¶¨ÎϤòÆÀ¤Æ¡¢½é¥ô¥£¥ó¥Æ¡¼¥¸1991ǯ°Ê¹ß¡¢¥·¥ã¥È¡¼¤¬À¸¤ß½Ð¤¹¥ï¥¤¥ó¤Ï¹â¤¤É¾²Á¤ò¼õ¤±¡¢¶Ã°ÛŪ¤Ê¥¹¥Ô¡¼¥É¤Ç¥°¥é¥ó¡¦¥¯¥ê¥å¤ËɤŨ¤¹¤ë¤Þ¤Ç¤Î¥·¥ã¥È¡¼¤È¤Ê¤ê¤Þ¤·¤¿¡£ 2012ǯ¤ËÂè1ÆÃÊ̵éB¤Ë¾º³Ê¤·¤¿¥ô¥¡¥é¥ó¥É¥í¡¼¤Ï¶Ã°ÛŪ¤Ê¥¹¥Ô¡¼¥É¤Ç¥È¥Ã¥×¥ï¥¤¥ó¤ËÅФê¤Ä¤á¤¿¥·¥ó¥Ç¥ì¥é¥ï¥¤¥ó¤È¸Æ¤Ð¤ì¤Þ¤¹¡£ ¶Å½ÌÅ٤ι⤵¤È¡¢²Ì¼ÂÌ£¤ÎËÉÙ¤µ¤¬ÆÃħ¤Ç¤¹¡£ ¥·¥ã¥È¡¼ ¥ô¥¡¥é¥ó¥É¥í¡¼ °ìÍ÷¤Ø
